Manchester United sign Midfielder…
Manchester United have completed the signing of Talented
teenager, Spain youth international Arnau Puigmal, from Espanyol.
The midfielder, 16,
described his move to Old Trafford as "a dream come true" after
leaving Espanyol.
The transfer is yet to
be confirmed by United, but Puigmal is expected to join Kieran McKenna's
under-18s.
After signing his
contract alongside McKenna and former United striker Andy Cole, Puigmal wrote on Instragram; "Very happy and proud to announce that I am a new Manchester United
player, a dream come true. It's time to work."
The Spain U18
international will join fellow signings Ethan Galbraith, Largie Ramazani,
Di'Shon Bernard and Aliou Traore.
McKenna's side have
started the season with a 4-2 defeat to West Brom and a 2-1 win over Stoke.
Academy chief Nicky Butt
sat on the bench for the final game of last season to watch a team that
included youngsters Joel Pereira, Demetri Mitchell, Scott McTominay, Josh
Harrop and Angel Gomes beat Crystal Palace 2-0.
And Butt said United
offer young players like Puigmal a viable path into the first team.
He told MUTV; "We're
competing with a lot of clubs these days but I still believe we've got the best
pathway. It's a fact we're probably the best or one of the best in Europe at
developing our lads for the first team.
"We can speak to
parents honestly and say, look, we always give our lads a chance to play for
the club; the pathway is there to play if they're good enough."
