We Must Treat Orphans Differently – Sheikh Thatibi
Moshi, Tanzania
Instead of
visiting and sending them gifts them during holidays, people should develop a
culture of welcoming orphans living in centres into their homes so that they
could celebrate the holidays together.
The call has
been made today, Sept 1 by Riadha mosque Imam, Sheikh Thatibi Tarimo, when
preaching during Eid el Hajj prayers.
Mr Tarimo said many people or
institutions have tendency of sending gifts to orphanages and then leave the
children alone.
“Instead, we
should go and bring the children to our homes and celebrate with them together
as part of our families,” he said noting this will give the children sense of
belonging.
He said in their
lives orphans usually miss parental love and spending a day with them under
family environments rekindles this love and this gesture will leave a positive
mark in their lives.
Sheilh Tarimno also condemned groups
which have been killing people in the name of defending religion.
He said such
groups should be ignored especially by Muslims as their religious preaches
peace and not hatred.
